Sir ... what about placing a sample on the tube showing your fret-hand? I'd love to learn it.

Aloha Ambrosius,

I'm flattered that anyone would want to learn this piece. I'll try to strong arm my daughter to shoot a video of me playing it. Can't pinpoint exactly how soon because asking her to do anything is like pulling teeth While I'm at it I'll try to tab it out. I incorporated what Ozzie refers to as "Slurs" into the composition & they're not easily detected just by watching. I'll be more than happy to share them with you when I'm done.

First composition? Sheez, I guess that gives the rest of us something to shoot for (as in, the bar has now been set higher than I could ever reach.) This is truly a sweet tune and it does bring images of old Hawaii and her cowboys.

If you do write out a tab, I'd be happy to get a hold of one. (Btw, tell your daughter she can help in protecting and promoting Hawaiian heritage and music by video-filing your work. Maybe that'd give her that little extra push she might need.)

Whenever I get down, or feel depressed, I have a go-to list of tunes that I listen to to get recharged (so-to-speak). My list had 15 tunes, all-timers (for me anyway). It now has 16.

Thanks Duke. Seriously--thank you.

P.S. Do you have, or will you have this in CD quality format?

Wow Bruddah John, mahalo piha for the high praise See me blushing. I will absolutely make sure I send you the tablature for "Ho'olea Slack Key" It might take a couple of days or maybe even a week to tab out as my right hand is usually on auto pilot. Muscle memory always takes over the plucking sequences so I literally have to go note by note to confirm exactly what I am plucking....Tabbing has it's benefits though because it gives you a better understanding of what you are playing thus making you more fundamentally sound.

It would be very kind of you SirDuke, - to tab it. My idea was that it was less work for you to just play it through with a recorder on. I've been rolling the video quite a few times, and the tune is good. I'd love to give it a try.
