Aloha Fellow Campers:
As most of you know, Aloha Music Camp lost its home of the last four years when Keauhou Beach Resort suddenly closed in October. We were able to find a new location for the winter Camp which starts on February 10, 2013, at the Sheraton Kona Resort at Keauhou Bay. The Sheraton has been very helpful and cooperative, and we are looking forward to having another great Camp. In fact, we are having one of our biggest Camps ever!
For the longer term, however, we felt that the closure of the Keauhou Beach Resort gave us an opportunity to thoroughly rethink the structure and location of Aloha Music Camp… and maybe even make it better. So we’ve decided to postpone the summer 2013 Camp.
Taking the summer off will give us a chance to research locations and ponder ideas and improvements. So while we know you may be disappointed, we hope you will take a few minutes to think about all those great ideas you’ve had over the years and send them to us. We will be meeting right after the February Camp and brainstorming all the new ideas.
Send your ideas and suggestions to Rosemary @ alohamusiccamp.com or Konabob @ alohamusiccamp.com.
AMC will reemerge in 2014, blossoming anew -- Mohala Hou!

How come no reports form the FEB 2013 camp a couple of weeks ago? Usually we get daily updates and lots of follow up, but this time nothing but silence. |

I can't help but long for the days when Camp was on Moloka'i. That was such a special place. Is there still a movement afoot to get that property into the hands of a local non-profit? I, also, was looking forward to hearing the daily reports, but don't do Facebook. for heaven's sake,I work on computers all day, sometimes all night, the last thing I want to do is get overwhelmed with more activity. Although I do check TaroPatch!

Konabob and Julie,
Thanks for the replies. I am a true dinosaur - I don't do Facebook, and may be the alst eprson on the planet like that. I too spend much of my work time on computers and have little desire left over to do much of anything recreational with them. While I do check taropatch routinely, and I now know why there were no reports here. Mahalo for the explaination!
I hope everyone had a spendid island time, as usual. I really miss Aloha Camp, but simply don't fly anymore -- too much hassle, as I trip the metal detectors 100% of the time, and then always get molested by TSA. |

Aloha Earl, You are not the last person on the planet who does not do Facebook. Apparently there are two of us. Mahalo nui to Konabob and Ben for providing the links to all the great photos.

So here is the weird thing. I did the physical design of the first ROM, the first RAM, and the first 8-bit microprocessor at Intel when it was a start-up. 1970/1972.
Before those products, computers were huge machines that required raised floors and mondo AC units, and huge cables running along the walls. Now I run huge programs on big servers, and I can barely handle those darn little credit card machines at the grocery store. Embarrassing, really. I guess it's all about the real focus of our lives.
I never watch TV or movies, either. Why would I, I look at monitors all day and most of the night. I'd rather look outside at the birds and the wind in the trees, and the sunset.
And by the way, I was a mere child in 1970.

Glad I'm not the only one out here in low tech world. I'm pretty happy with my old computer and slow internet. I do have one of those vintage cell phones that I can make calls on, if needed. I have all texting blocked. Thank God for acoustic instruments! |
