Aloha,
I went to Cyril Pahinui's performance and workshop at Columbia University in New York City last year, and it was fantastic!
When Rev. Kamakahi brought his Slack Key Festival to the Birchmere in Virginia, I was there, but no workshops! Still an inspriational show that gave me lots of ideas.
Next weekend I'm going to the Seattle Slack Key Festival, and will attend the workshop by Cyril Pahinui. (Long way to go...)
Going to O'ahu and Maui in the spring. Hope to reconnect with Cyril Pahinui for another lesson, and anyone else that will play with me.
I'm loving this slack key stuff, but learning on my own is too slow! And it seems like this is music meant to be shared.
Still trying to find like-minded slack key guitarists out this way to play with and learn from. Any workshops, or get-togethers, or kanikapila, or fellow slack key guitarists (even beginners!) out this way?
Help!
Gary
