I'm trying various mics connected direct to my camera instead of recording separate audio and syncing in post. These days I get 48 khz/16 bit audio from the Lumix GH5 and the preamps are darned decent - not as quiet as my best stuff, but not at all bad.
I learned a version of "Punahele" from the Guitar Workshop DVD, like Uncle Ray I never play it exactly the same way twice but I think the idea comes through:
Thanks for posting this--I'm way out of practice (despite the extra time provided by the current unpleasantness), and your video made me try to resurrect the tune. Wahine tunings always mess me up, since the right-hand patterns invert what I'm used to for taropatch.
Now if I can kickstart my slack-key picking, maybe that will get me back to work on the book. (There are also a couple newish books on Hawaiian music that are pushing me that way--Troutman' Kika Kila and Felezs's Listen But Don't Ask Question.)
