Eh, Aunty! No worry, us natives never use umberellas! It's a quick way to spot an out-of-stater. I've never owned one, my folks either. Hats, on the other hand do come in handy. I don't know which is worse, wearing glasses or being bald in the rain. |

Aloha all! I'm checking in from Gibsons in British Columbia - that's on the Sunshine coast north on the ferry from Horseshoe Bay. OK - I've seen enough rain for now..... but we had hail which made everything white as we walked around Lost Lake at Whistler. For any of you who were at the Mauian towards the end of camp, you may remember Catherine and Garth David.... well, I took them up on their offer to come visit and what a wonderful place!! I'll be down to neeej's around 1:30 or 2:00 - so I'm looking forward to seeing everyone. aunty |

Thanks again Jean for hosting! Pretty cool to have guests from Sequim (Mark and Andy) and Auntie Nancy from California. Your place has become the HAPPENING PLACE! Rich |

'twas a heavenly kanikapila weekend in the Seattle area! It was great having the Sequim (aka Skwim) drive so far (3-4 hours) to join us...and Auntie Nancy up from California, too. And then following that up with another gathering today. That's a total of about 10 hours of music-making, plus veritable banquet tables of food each day...what a life!
Mahalo nui to our guests for joining us...and to our hosts for putting up with us.

I know many of you Seattle slackers are still catching up on sleep from yesterday, but maybe someone will want to kanikapila in two weeks, say, Thanksgiving weekend? (If you're not at Walmart battling for a new Xbox?) I'll be in Seattle visiting inlaws and friends. Jesse Tinsley |

Aloha,
Mahalo to all who came to our special Hawaiian Xmas recording session. What a blast!!!! You guys are too good.
The songs we did were wonderful and we did it the hardest way possible - live all the way around. My friend was willing to record in parts/tracks so that we can fix and weed out the junk but we did it the honest, real way, the hard way - LIVE - and it turned out great, (actually I have not heard it all yet, eek, but what I heard sounded good).
I hope to have copies for all by our next gathering.
We need to think about a band name for the CD. FYI it will contain all kinds of amature recordings of xmas music. Paul says that he will make around 200 copies and they will be used as xmas presents for friends and family, I'll have copies for you all too! -
Some of the band name suggestions are listed below;
- Seattle Kani Jam Band (the one that ids us for all to know. - Do we want to be known?) - Podagee Soup Jam Band (We play fo beans) (My fav.) - Mauna Hili Iam Band (the docs suggestion) - ????? anymore.
We can talk next time. (I like the first two the best, no. 2 is my fav.)
Mahalo Nui again - Aloha!
Hili.

Also -----
My computer is nuts - after adding my input its now updated and now I see Hapakid's post and the rest of you too ...... from our last Kani.
BTW, that was great too as usual - I enjoyed it a lot, and yes a huge mahalo to our guest (spys? lolGlen said he was a SUPA spy) that came out to play with us. and the guys all the way from Seakiwi-m (Hawaiian spelling), for all who don't know that a long long way, say 3 hours? yikes - I stay from HI and I can only drive fo 20 - 30 minutes tops, den you fall off da island.
Hapa,
I think we have a kani planned for the Saturday after thanksgiving, All the die hards will be there even though we played our fingers to the bone this weekend. I don't know about you guys but mine's hurt.
So I think its on - right Aunty neej?
Aloha,
Hili |

Oh my - an invitation like this is hard to resist - so we just may not! Resist, that is. And for all those who will be in the area that weekend, our halau is performing at the Seattle Center's Center House on Sunday, 11/26 - scheduled presently for 2:15 pm; early enough for those who have to drive all the way back to Idaho...(hint-hint!) |
