I missed Malihini Boys, cause I was at the same shows as thumbstruck, of course. I did catch Neeej & Suzy, though - even though the soundman was paying no attention to the fact that Neeej's mic wasn't on, they did a fine set - good material, and the crowd was drawn right in.

Hoping to come by this weekend, as I'll be right next door at KBCS again that afternoon (more fundraising fun); Lori may join in (though she'll have to catch a bus over) - thumbstruck, is Jack coming, too? Pat B may come again from Duvall, and he may want to chat more with Jack about songs and styles.

As far as I know (as of last night) Jack, a.k.a. "Keaka" will be at the kanikapila with his 8 string Dobro and at least one Aloha shirt. I let another steel player, Bill Merwin, know about it. It should be a "slippery, slimey" time! See you Sattaday.

Here's yer official reminder for 2nd Saturday kani---same time, same station. Also, due to certain folks' whimpering that "once a mont' is not enuff", gonna try it on 4th Saturdays as well---with the usual "unless it conflicts wid somet'ing else" caveat :-)

And wouldn't you know it . . . I gotta go Hawai'i for one week (5th thru 12th) so I gotta miss again. For penance I'll force myself to endure a double dose of live music performances . . .

Drat . . . I hate missing you guys and the music! Isn't this the month we start going double? Maybe there's hope for me yet. Got my Kona Walkingstick bass and a small amp recently, too, so I'm anxious to show it off next time I see y'all ("it" means the actual cool instrument, because my playing sucks so far).

Don

The 8th'll be my birthday, but since I'll be gone there's no need to make the special birthday cake and sing for me! You could, however, save it for next time . . .
