Slack Key Workshop w/ Mark Nelson
(Co-author of "Learn to Play Hawaiian Slack Key Guitar" with Keola Beamer)

Where: At the home of Bruce Lamb, San Diego. (Directions to follow)
When: Monday, September 30, 7:30 PM
Cost: $25

The workshop will cover chords, licks and arranging ideas for the
advancing slack key guitarist. We'll focus on "Drop C" ("Leonard's
C") tuning, although the concepts will work in other tunings as well.
Drop C is a wonderful tuning, easy to get to from Taro Patch, that
lends itself to modulations and other cool arranging tricks. We'll
look at some turnarounds, chords, fingerings and more, with an
emphasis on learning to play together and develop a personal style.

Dusty, you and Mark? and Bruce !!

Slack key...umm ya, right...get you guys together and I'm a thinking theres gonna be some blues goin down....

Again nothing personal, just an observation...
Damn, I wish I could be there, but I sold my soul in regards to time off from work this last August.
I'm thinking I need a new line of work.

I'll be there in spirit, listening to Bruces' 'Chicago style"

love and kisses

The workshop was GREAT!! We all learned a lot about "drop C" tuning. Thanks, Mark.

Also, Mahalo to Bruce Lamb and his wife for their wonderful hospitality.

As a side note, Mark and I got a private tour of the Taylor Guitar factory in the afternoon prior to the workshop. What a kick! We got to play the new grand auditorium sized nylon string guitar. IMHO it's an order of magnitude better than the existing GC sized model. Just right for sweet Ki Ho`alu.
