Aloha all, For those who dance hula, want to dance hula or want to watch hula, check out this incredible hula retreat in Sacrmamento September 16-18. If you participate, you dance a morning session and an afternoon session each day, with the Kumu of your choice. Then, in the evening the different classes perform with wonderful live music, including Blaine Kia, whose foundation and halau are sponsoring the event. I attended last year and was so impressed I joined the sponsoring halau, Halau Ka Waikahe Lani Malie. website is www.epilikakou.org for more info and to register. You can also email me for more info.
The list of participating Kumu is awesome:
Mae Kamamalu Klein Kaua'i - 2005 Honoree Frank Kawaikapuokalani Hewett, O`ahu Sonny Ching, O`ahu Rita Moon, Lana`i Maelia Lobenstein-Carter, O`ahu Chinky Mahoe, O`ahu Keali`i Ceballos, Los Angeles Pohai Souza, O`ahu Auntie Mary Lou Kekuewa Auntie Paulette Kahelepuna Michael Kop, O`ahu George Holokai, O`ahu Kealoha Kalama, Oahu Maka Herrod, O`ahu Greg Lontayao, O`ahu Ku`ualohanui Kauli`a, Maui Heipua Bordes, Tahiti

If I didn't have a wedding to attend, I'd go there just to soak in the manao. What a lineup! |

Lynn, Thanks for bringing this to our attention. This look like a very interesting opportunity. My wife, who has been taking hula lessons fo two years (but not from a halau), is thinking about attending. Are any other Taropatch people or spouses planning on attending?
