Hi, Karl
I am very sad to report that it appears as if the kanikapila at Waihe`e will not be happening. I suppose I should have checked into it before making plans, but they had been going on for so long that it didn't occur to me to think they might have ended. I am trying to see if I can arrange for something to happen somewhere else, but it is not an easy thing to plan from 4000 miles away.
We may just have to wait until Sunday at AMC for our music (although I will be otherwise occupied for part of the day - GO COLTS!!)

I have no idea, Maggie. As I was trying to confirm plans with folks on Maui, I was told (as Mark indicated above) that it has been almost a year since they held one, and that the tent is no longer up at the church. |

You know that Kevin is the ringleader, right? And Kevin will be at AMC in a few days, right? So, just ask Ke Kanaka (Da Man).
Lapses have happened before, but the longest permanent running, uh, kanikajamapila (to use a Slack Key Bill word), has sprung up again and again. It depends on the place and the people and circumstances and Kevin.

Hello there people! My partner Alison and I are coming from quite far away, and we don't land in Maui until about 10:00 AM on Sunday morning. We were going to catch the ferry at six PM, getting to Moloka'i at half past seven. It seems everyone else is going to be earlier than us! If anyone else is getting the evening ferry we'd be happy to share a shuttle bus with them.
I'm a little bit concerned that we will be too late for registration. Not to mention dinner! |

No worries, you won't go hungry.
I'm glad you posted this so we can make arrangements. In case others might be arriving late, I'll respond here instead of via e-mail.
Be sure to double check the shuttle rez -- ask a deckhand on the ferry to call for you (they do this all the time.) When you arrive at the Lodge, you can check in there. We'll have your rooms held at the beach village, so no worries.
Depending on your arrival time in Maunaloa, it may be best to eat dinner at the Lodge as we won't have any way to warm up a plate after the kichen crew cleans up down at the beach (Dinner ends at 7:00-7:30.) If you want us to hold dinner for you, have someone call from the Lodge desk.
We have a welcome and short concert the first night -- starts at 8:00. You'll see us under the Hula Tent when your shuttle arrives. Check in at the Beach Village front desk, then wander over and introduce yourself. I'll be the worried-looking guy next to the PA.
Trust me, when you wake up the next morning, you will know that you are in Paradise.
See you soon!
Mark
