By the way --- this highly-inclusive thread has long surpassed the "Seattle-Area Experiment" one - and we in the aforementioned area say a hearty "hurrah!"
The length and breadth of this thread answers its own question. My pidgin sucks, and it always will. I feel welcome here anyway. Pidgin-posters imua! |

Eh, brah, no say "shootz" in dis tread!
Sir Duke, I glad you stay okay. I not one religious person, but I tink somboddy was lookin' out fo you. You know why, it's cuz you get aloha. And wen you give aloha, if evvryting goes right (and sometimes it doesn't) you get aloha.
On anoddah note, sometime we don't know what our heritage is. One respected kupuna up hea, he nevah know for long time he was paht Pohtagee. Ony like da las' 10 yeahs he wen find out. But da rest of us knew! Dis uncle, he no can talk witout his hands, so gotta be!
Me, I stay paht Okinawan, an da Okinawan gene pool is pretty murky. Wen my granfaddah was young, he was real dark and he looked paht Filipino. My granmaddah was real fair and she looked paht Korean. |

Duke and Jay both have good babooze stories. And as Peter said above, we all have been there. That is for certain! How about sharing some of your babooze stories so Duke does not feel so all alone at the top.
I've got two, both from when I first was married and was trying so hard to be the good wife. One day I went to wash dishes in the dishwasher that came with our apartment. We had run out of wishwasher detergent, so I put in liquid dish soap. Nevah had a dishwasher growing up at home, so I didn't know anytiing. I learned right quick not to put liquid dish soap iin the dishwasher. It makes lots of tiny bubbles. Bubbles and bubbles and more bubbles. I was sitting on the kitchen floor crying with bubbles all around me. It was like something from the Lucy show. I did not know what to do, so I had to call my Ma and get her advice. She told me to sprinkle salt on the bubbles and they would go away. Worked like a charm. We had one very clean kitchen floor.
Anoddah time I was making beef soup for dinnah. Since good soup cooks low and slow, I thought I could put the soup on and run over to the old neighborhood and pick up my Ma for to have dinnah with us. Only half hour there and half hour back, and I usually cook soup for hours and hours. I figured no problem, yeah? Well, there was a problem. I forgot to turn the stove down way low when I left to get Ma. Paul came home to the apartment while I was on my way back with Ma. He found that the fire and police had been there because of the smoke emanating from our apartment because the pan burned up on the stove. My Ma got a pretty good kick out of that. No soup that day. This was in the days before crock pots. I am a better cook and housekeeper nowadays. |

Never leave out all the details, like you want to hide something. I came home to smoke and a note to call Officer So & So at the Police Station. He told me what he and the Fire Dept knew, and when I asked where is my wife, He don't know nothin about no wife. I don't know if she got burnt and drove to the hospital or what. Then, Wanda comes in with her Ma and wants to know what I did to her soup. Me, I was just home from working, on Saturday yet. No Pau Hana till Saturday afternoon in those days. Paul |
