Aloha to the Ohana of Taro Patch,

It's me again-the begginer. Tried to learn too much-too fast, ended up burning myself out. Some of the songs I learned did'nt sound correct...so I took a couple months break...and now back on...but going a little slower and trying harder to keep the melody.

This is for info only! Dont really know the authenticity of the Slack Tracks web site. I tried to order a Tab for Ulupalakua and Hi ilawe along with the MP3 and was to receive it through email. Never received it, tried calling (702) 270-2807 and is no longer in service, and emailed ianuiconcerts @ hotmail.com which shows an error with certification, and also emailed donnarup @ Yahoo.com and did not get any response.

Glad to receive any info on this subject, and always much Mahalo's for all who have helped me.

Slack Tracks is a little different than the lesson materials. Most lesson CD's are a slow and an up-tempo version to let you learn a specific arrangment of each song on the Cd and in the book. The Slack Tracks was a slow solo version for learning, along with an up-tempo band version minus the lead guitar for jamming along with. It lets the player improvise along with a band. Of course, you first have to reach a certain level of playing ability to keep up. But when you reach the point of learning to improvise, the band is waiting for you. Especially good for people in Slack-challenged locations. I wish I had bought more than the one I have. Initially, there were 3 volumes.

OK. Here's my take on Slack Tracks. This was a collaboration between Patrick Landeza, Don and me. Slack Tracks was "owned" and distributed by I`a Nui Productions. I`a Nui Productions ceased to exist when Don died; the remaining physical inventory of CD sets was liquidated. The masters disappeared with Don's estate. Linda has moved from Las Vegas and no longer has anything of Don's music stuff. I sent Patrick the mp3 and pdf files and I believe that he is still selling them. I have copies of everything, but I'm not in the business any more. Too many cloudy legal and tax issues for my blood. In the past I've been able to help out with individual requests for electronic files in exchange for a donation to the Kauai Food Bank. If anyone is still interested in these, first contact Patrick Landeza and see if he's still hawking them.

He had copies of them with him when he was up this way last month. CSKPlayer, you can drop him a note through TaroPatch; look up member account "hwnslacker" (http://www.taropatch.net/forum/pop_profile.asp?mode=display&id=51).

This week was Guitar Week at The Swannanoa Gathering. Patrick has been teaching there all week.I suspect he won't be home until Sunday evening, or possibly Monday. I alerted him to look at this thread, so he may be checking in with us here.
