Hi Friends, I just wanted to let you know that I have the great pleasure in performing once again with guitarist guru Adam Werner on the beautiful Island of Kauai. We will be at the Hanalei Community Center AUGUST 29, 2009.

Please visit http://woodsongacoustics.com/events.php for all of the details.

New music samples for my upcoming album "Hana Lima" can be found at
http://woodsongacoustics.com/music/yeaton.php

Also, my wife Karla and I, with little son Noah, will kick off the 1st annual "Yeaton Ohana Tour" in January of 2010. We are looking at performing up in New York. In both Manhattan and in Woodstock at the Bearsville Theatre. From there we will be in Hood River, Ashland, and Grants Pass, Oregon and in Dunsmuir / Redding California as well. All those details will be on the Woodsong site over the next several weeks.

We look forward to seeing you all!

Chris Yeaton

I hope some enterprising So Cal folks can find a way to host these guys in concert. They are both gifted musicians, and you are sure to have a great evening of music.

If you have never hosted a house concert, here's what you need:

A house.

OK, there is a little more to it. But basically, you are hosting a party with 25-40 friends, dependent on the size of your room. Be sure to tell them to come (hint: do not put your address on posters... put a phone number), charge a donation (make it enough so you don't insult the musicians), have folks bring some goodies to share, set a start time, and sit back and enjoy.

Many years ago, house concerts were the norm. Nowadays we call the stuff they played Chamber Music. Yep, you can participate in a fine old tradition.

Chris,
We met at the Big Island Slack Key Festival in 2007. Let's talk about a San Diego swing. The San Diego Slack Key Society might be able to put something together.

Ditto what Terry said. I'd host at my house but I don't have a yard or room big enough. Funny for a guy that lives "in the cheap seats" at the intersection of Rancho Santa Fe and La Costa. I'll speak for the other bruddahs, we'd (SCSKS) love to have you conduct a workshop along with a house concert.

chris,
I'll be talking to the guys about this tonight. We'll probably need to know when you get an itinerary. Hopefully there will be some shows closer to us than Redding.

I'll talk with Terry tonight (our weekly slack key open mike) and see what the Southern California Slackers can come up with for you. I'd still love to sit with you and learn a few licks. I pulled out Skyward Granite again , hmmm ....

Aloha e Chris! I'll go down south to see you if at all possible. Here are a few other ideas: Trilogy Music in Playa del Rey hosted a terrific evening of Jeff Peterson and Jim (Kimo) West and charged $20 or $15 if wearing aloha shirt. Our local library loves to have Hawaiian music and holds maybe 50 in the all-purpose room. They don't charge, but you may sell your CDs. It's a good thing to do mid-week between other gigs perhaps. Fran Guidry played at a "house concert" last year and came here first for a kanikapila and said it's the best way to warm up for the paying gig. I am happy to host slack key workshops. Jeff has been here several times recently and an idea hit: lots of folks wanted to just come listen in and I discouraged that. About 10 is a fine number for a workshop, but maybe you could charge $10 for folks who want to come along and audit. They could sit in back and not ask questions and you could spend your time with the students. Most recently we advertise as intermediate and encourage beginners to contact Kimo, or perhaps Chuck Ka'imikaua depending on where they live. I live 5 minutes south of LAX close to the beach so let me know what/if I can do anything to help out.
Aloha! and Mahalo for coming to the Mainland!!
