I dont see a problem with not understanding the culture of every place I visit. If one is courteous and respectful while visiting, that should be good enough.

I was only sharing a small part of the conversation, there were many subjects on which this gentleman was very smug and obnoxiously all-knowing. There was no way we could connect on any level. He was not courteous nor respectful...

It only takes one t*rd in the punchbowl to ruin the party.
I've taken a new tack. Some folks are here on the planet just for my amusement, sort of a living cartoon.

Eh, Retro. As for "pono", we know when it ain't. At times it would seem that a digital personality tuner would come in handy. Good to keep spare batteries, also.

So very true. We can't always say for sure what it is - but we can usually agree when it isn't.

If I tip my head, the stuff just spills out. I usually wear an apron when I'm home.

Too true, with music, too. I always say that Thumbs is a human juke box - stick a quatah in da eah and out comes da tune!

Don't let his curmudgeonliness rain on your aloha, Julie. My guess is that he does not to go to Hawaii for other reasons he did not state and was really talking to his own wife, not you. You should have asked him for directions to that airconditioned golf course... Ric

I hear your pain Julie, really do.

I even relate it further to the 'over the hill'ers' (highway 17) who come blasting into Santa Cruz and Capitola on their stupid motorcycles and hang out at the Esplanade in Capitola, make noise, leave litter, then go back over the hill to their real lives.

Wait, I AM bitter !

Warm Aloha to you girl !
