Mahalo Konabob for sharing that video. It brought back great memories of last year's workshop. It was my first time to Keoki's workshop in Pahala and what a wonderful line-up of teachers! There is something for everybody: slack key guitar, ukulele, lauhala weaving, chanting, singing, exercise/pilates, and lots of eating - good food! One thing that is available at this workshop is one-on-one lessons included in the fee. There is a sign up sheet each day where you can sign up for a lesson with any teacher for a private lesson! Where else can you get all these special opportunities in one place. And every night after dinner, the whole group came together for a Kani ka pila in the living room of the Plantation House. We so enjoyed meeting the five men from Japan who were students and they were so much fun. One evening, we all sang Silent Night in Japanese and that made them feel a little homesick they said, but I think they were very pleased that we did that. Another special part of the workshop was that we spent time at Punaluhu Beach where we arrived early to welcome the sunrise with a group chant. We then spent the day watching for turtles to come on the beach, sang and played in a Kani ka pila, and again lots of good food was prepared for us. The young students who are there on scholarships, do lots of work to help out the staff. What a great bunch of kids, and so much talent they have. So, I urge anyone who might be interested to come join us this year. Jerry and I will be going again. Jerry had attended the first year, but I wasn't able to go. One special thing that occurred there was that Darcy Baker directed the students in a choir and they sang Silent Night in Hawaiian. It was beautiful with the blending of all the voices under her direction. Although I wasn't there, I got to enjoy the song from a recording. I think Konabob had a link on his website to the recording of the song, and it was so lovely. Darcy Baker will be there again this year, and I am really looking forward to taking part in her classes/choir. So check out the video and the line-up of instructors, and consider joining us! Diana

Dear Friends of Keoki and his Ohana, You lucky to be there on the big island. What a great line up of teachers! Connie and I are stuck here in Texas until June. Anybody know the dates for 2010's June Maui workshop? At least we can make that.

Hi Jim and Connie,
George's workshop always seems to start on Father's Day. I think it will be June 20th.
Aloha, J.
