Aloha kakou ---
Rod Higuchi & I are leading yet another workshop at Dusty Strings, and this time, it's all about Christmas. It's on the afternoon of Sunday, December 13, and here is the "official" description:
Christmas With Your `Ukulele
Instructors: Rod Higuchi, Gregg Porter Sun., December 13, 2009
2:45 p.m. - 4:45 p.m.
$35.00
Are you relatively new to the uke, but can handle a range of basic chords in a couple of keys? Then you are ready to learn some songs for the holidays. Two guys from the Seattle `Ukulele Players Association will give you a seasonal songbook, and we’ll all play and sing a number of wintertime favorites.
Now, here's some additional thoughts that didn't fit in the short paragraph above (provided to Dusty Strings) - this is basically like a Christmas song-circle, in that we'll be playing a lot of Christmas songs (both traditional carols and secular songs), but it's a workshop in that it will be geared towards folks who are relatively new to the `ukulele.
If you've gotten comfortable with your instrument - can play a handful of the basic major & minor chords in keys like C, F and G, can do a basic steady strum, can usually sing along while you play - then this session is geared towards you (what I like to call "the advanced beginner").
Please help us out - sign up, if you like, or help spread the word to others that you know might enjoy it. To reserve your place --- visit Dusty Strings Acoustic Music Shop in person, at 3406 Fremont Avenue N. in Seattle, or call them at 206-634-1662 (or toll-free at 866-634-1662); they accept cash, check, Visa or MC. The store is open Mon-Sat 10 am to 6 pm, Sun 12 noon to 5pm (PST).
