I recently had to put my slack key interests in the background for a while. Why? because I have found a "once in a lifetime" teacher and I got to go with it. I would be crazy (pupule even!) to miss the opportunity. I still play slack but new material will have to wait for the summer.
My teacher, Dave Nelson, teaches classical guitar and only on nylon but can take students from placing little fingers on a fretboard to a performing virtuoso guitar player. I don't really want to be a classical guitar player, but in the end the technique and musical knowlege works in all styles.
Ever been inspired by a great teacher inside or outside of slack key? I am one year short of 60 but now I can say that I have :)
