Good on ya, mate!
And thanks for the very detailed directions. Now I don't have an excuse.
Looks like I'll need to head to Radio Shack for a switch. Though, to be honest, I can't think of a situation where I've wanted to just use the amp to power a set of 'phones. But then, I live in the woods.

Our environments certainly shape our needs and preferences, don’t they?
Where I live, it’s pretty densely populated. Our houses are close together in a row and they are very small compared to the average American house. It’s not fair to the neighbours to make overmuch noise. And I don’t want large amplifiers taking up space, because there isn’t that much space to take up. I go through the PA for gigs, and I really don’t care if I never own or even use a dedicated instrument amp ever again. One less thing to find space for and to carry about.
Also my local jams are all indoors, (due to our changeable climate) and we tend to sit near each other and play acoustically, again because of space issues. I was quite surprised the first time I went to a session in Florida – it was a bluegrass session in a parking lot. For a start that was quite a surprise – nobody would think of doing that over here.
Secondly, I was amazed with all the equipment everyone had. Everyone had their own amplifier, their own music stand, their own foldable chair, and most even had a microphone. Everyone had high end guitars; Taylors and Martins. Everyone had really large cars or pick up trucks. I felt kind of primitive turning up with just my mandolin, trying to join in. I had a bit of ‘accent trouble’ as well, not for the first or last time!
Anyway, this is all a bit of a drift to Bob’s thread. The point is, headphones – yep, essential for those of us who live in close proximity to other people!
