This week’s guest on Pakele Live! with Tony Solis is Gordon Frietas and Local Folk.
A singer-songwriter/musician, multiple Hawai‘i Music Award winner and Nā Hōkū Hanohano Award nominee, Gordon weaves the lyrics he writes about life in Hawai’i into songs that tell instantly-recognizable stories to those who live here, and that paint illustrative portraits of life in these islands for those who don’t. In his words, "I wrote these songs so folks who came to the islands could learn a little bit about our local people and the events and things that touch our lives."
In addition to his songwriting skills, he plays steel and acoustic guitar, ‘ukulele, harmonica, mandolin, dobro… and probably more. His music helps perpetuate the Aloha spirit and reflects his love for his island home, its culture, and its people. Joining him on the Pakele Live! stage will be Ric Gonzalez, Pete Moe and Lisa Gomes on fiddle.
