Kia ora, Talofa, Malo e lelei, Aloha, Ia Orana, Bula Vinaka, Fakalofa lahi atu and greetings to you all,
As you all may be aware, the island nations of Samoa, Amerika Samoa and Tonga were struck by tragedy on September 29, 2009 when an earthquake measuring 8.3 triggered a tsunami that sent waves smashing into the coasts of Samoa, Amerika Samoa and Tonga, killing over 200 people, destroying villages and causing millions of dollars worth of damage to homes and infrastructure.
A wave of benefit concerts have been taking place all over New Zealand and the United States, and in New York, a small group of people are working to put together a fundraiser concert to aid in the rebuilding and redevelopment of these islands.
The event is planned for Saturday, November 21, 2009 at 3.00 pm at a venue yet to be confirmed (hopefully this will be settled tomorrow). A 3 hour concert is scheduled with locally based performers giving of their time and energy to attend and make the event a wonderful success, and we would like your support.
Please find attached a Save the Date notice. As soon as the venue is confirmed, which is being generously sponsored by the Asian/Pacific/American Institute at NYU, an updated flyer will be distributed will be sent out.
We hope that you will be able to support us by coming along and donating to this worthy cause.
