This is not Hawaiian but I just have to share it. I got to tell ya, I am a very proud Step Granddad. Here is a myspace link to the music. It is the first song “Love Is” by John Lennon.

Anyway, I got to share music with my granddaughter Hannah, age 14, this Saturday. I have seen her talent for years and patiently waited until she aged and developed vocally. Early into this fun session, it became obvious to me that we were doing very well together and so the recording was a last minute thing--this shows at the end where there is no real ending
The recording is basically Hannah and me live with a drum machine running, me playing semi-acoustic electric, and Hannah singing lyrics from a computer print-out (into a mic), all going through a Roland AC-60 amp (with live effects). I transferred this quick recording (Tascam DP-004) to my 8 channel Tascam recorder and added acoustic bass the next morning. So that’s it, a live recording with a bass overdub and added reverb. I also cut/pasted it to extend the song out a little more. There is talent in our family!

Thanks for breaking the silence Andy. Sometimes I wonder about this group. Nuff said. |

Bob,
I always enjoy your recordings. I find it especially cool that you and your granddaughter can record something together. Speaks to how music can transcend generations and how music (interest in, ability to play) can be passed down to or connect family members.
Don't let the silence get to you. Hello.. ello... ello... llo... oo. **Insert cricket sounds here.** |
