Hau'oli la hanau, King David Kalakaua born on Nov 16th, in 1836. Arguably the man responsible for the first Hawaiian Renaissance. The Merrie Monarch did much to revive Hula and also was an important figure in helping promote Hawaiian Music. I'll be playing music and chants written by and for The King today on my radio show.
