My name is Jeni, halau name Hokule'a. I danced hula when I was little, and have returned to it last year. Am learning kahiko and auana styles here in Los Angeles. Be patient with me as I learn the culture, language, music, and reroute the haole in my Korean American self :D Am addicted to spam musubi. Mahalo nui loa for this board, it has helped me many times since I joined last year.

Aloha Hokule'a,
It's 'Alika. I was just wondering if your Hawaiian music collection has been expanding lately? Who do you like besides Keali'i? (who by the way was the first Hawaiian artist I discovered too) |
He kehau ho'oma'ema'e ke aloha.

so a quick update.... I feel like a couple years have gone by since last posting! Our halau has since been hired for a reality tv show segment which aired last month, performed in over 10 live gigs, not counting the solo I did for Natalie Ai Kamauu at the Ford Ampitheatre. I also finally got to meet Mika'ele at a kanikapila :)and I keep bothering Auntie Wanda for info lol. |

ALoha Alika, you betcha. Especially since I have been tuning into Hawaiian Rainbow every day. Lately it's been all about Na Palapalai, but I am also getting to know the local musicians really well, both on cd and in person. |
