For those of you with GAS (guitar acquisition syndrome), you might be interested in this 1930’s era Hawaiian parlor guitar. But it it were me, I’d get rid of the plaid pants. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rohyc7vW3Lg

This one is pretty old, but for `ukulele haumana like Paul and I, this is a very valuable lesson offered by Mitch Chang (tafkam1). Mahalo, Mitch. You’ve probably got jillions of haumana you don’t even know about. We can learn to play Pupu A`o ‘Ewa. If you sing the Hawaiian words and not “Pearly Shells”, the song has some mighty proud and powerful words. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5yYrBKkkMSE

That was taken at an annual event in Eastern Washington (which I've not been able to attend, due to the timing). The dancer in front is Uncle Bill Ka`aihue, so those are likely some of the dancers he teaches in Eastern Washington & Northern Idaho. It's possible that guitarded and no`eau were among the musicians. |
