Get ready for some giddy delight and some real chicken skin moments.

Part 1 - Brother Noland and Tony Conjugacion - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=REBxq-sjbIA

Part 2 - Cyril Pahinui - Ka Ipo Lei Manu - Whoa man. This is really something. Then Uncle Raymond Kane - Pauoa Liko Ka Lehua http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4sIEsaCZhjk

Part 3 - Uncle Raymond Kane - Wai o ke Aniani. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w_nIpjMY5l4&feature=channel

George Kuo, Barney Isaacs, that CUTE Ocean Kaowili, who is going to make you melt with that voice, Dennis Kamakahi, and I think maybe it is Milton Lau. I am sorry I do not know the song, but it is really nice. And then, oh boy, oh boy, oh boy -- The Pahinui Bros. -- Bla, Martin, Cyril, their neice 'Nita and Albert Ka`ai. Oh Martin has the voice, doesn't he. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t-rFc9DooS4&feature=channel

Part 5 - You can't beat this....Oh, Auntie is so excited to see this - Bla and the brothers, singing "Waimanalo Blues".
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ufu8kPsoSvo&feature=channel

Part 6 - Some good mo`olelo about how ki ho`alu came to be. Maybe Joni Mitchell needs to watch this. After the talk story, there is Keola Beamer playing Hula Lady accompanied by George Winston, then Led Kaapana, Maunaloa Slack Key, hoh how those fingers fly. I think it might be Mike Ka`awa playing 12-string with Led.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5lS81WYE1Iw&feature=channel

Part 7 - Hapa - Keali`i Kaneali`i & Barry Flannagan
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jRRAPupe4Bg&feature=channel

Part 8 - Haunani Apoliona & Ku`uipo Kumukahi
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1w-U23w8HeE&feature=channel

Part 9 - Native Hawaiian Band - Milton Lau, Led Kaapana, Mike Ka`awa, Gary Haleamau & Haunani Apoliona - No Ka Pueo
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=agvRVj3-DqM&feature=channel

Part 10 - a very nice tribute to Uncle Sonny Chillingworth who has recently passed on when this film was made.

They sure are swell videos, yeah Lee? I have had so much fun this week or so watching all these vids. I have been neglecting my chores and my kitty and, yes, even Unko Paul, by sitting in front of the computer. I can't help it. Good music, good vibes.

Wanda, I'm sooooooooo glad to have these to view -- mahalo for pointing us to them!!!

No Milton Lau on this one. Sure hope someone will ID the two who are sitting between Kuo and Isaacs for the "Ho`i Mai" segment. The faces are familiar, but the names escape me.

Hey Wanda....I keep hoping to maybe catch a glimpse of me, Kini, my girls and about half a dozen friends I dragged to McCoy Pavillion for that festival in the background of the videos. That was when it was the "Gabby Pahinui-Atta Isaacs Bankoh Slack Key Festival". That's why so many Pahinui & Isaac ohana members were performing.....Now it's become the "Milton Lau-sy Non-Slack Key Festival". I recollect "3 Scoops of Aloha w/Mel Amina" performing at that '94 festival.Everyone loved "Sweet Lady of Waiahole" but it ain't ki ho'alu. They were non-slackers so it had already started back then. But back then non-slackers were the minority not the majority as it is now....Az y hahd Good thing get the "Gabby Pahinui Waimanalo Kanikapila Festival" a week after the Oahu Slack Key(?)Festival....guarantee goin' have better ki ho'alu there

Well, Dukie, I guess, too, with Bla playing Waimanalo Blues...was not slack key, but my goodness, it was so very good. But Bla can slack with the best of them (ha-ha, his own braddaz) when he wants to. I was looking, too, to see if I could spock you or Jay. But I thought maybe you guys probably wasn't boloheads back then and I wouldn't even know what you look like back then, and the girls would be little and Kini would have been even more beauitful back then, probably. But in these two Slack Key Festivals that we have watched from these videos, only a few songs were non-slack key. Only a few. And choke more people than when we went. And looks like they went all the way until dark time, too.

Dukie - where is McCoy Pavilion? Is it at the University? I wondered about where it ws because Bla was singing at the end of Waimanalo Blues, ..."singing Papakolea blues, and also Nanakuli, too."

McCoy Pavillion is right in the middle of Ala Moana Beach Park, lack of parking may have factored into it's demise. We were way up front on the right corner next to the stage. I went to a couple at McCoy, missed the 2 I think it was at Kaka'ako Waterfront Beach Park. At Kaka'ako it's just Ewa of the parking lot. I went to a couple when it was held at the Bishop Museum. Missed it at the Royal Hawaiian Hotel and attended every one at Kapiolani Bandstand so far. Might miss my first one at Kapiolani this year though, it's gotten so bad it's not worth going anymore. Jay & I think it's time to boycott already, been thinking that for a couple years already. I'm kind of glad I chickened out of playing in last years festival....Oh yeah Jay first started going to the festivals when it was at the Bishop Museum.Probably late 90s or early 2000s

Yeah, Al. Kory plays it, and I learned it from him. We didn't know its name, and when we played it for Led, he told us that it is Ho'i Mai. It is an Alving Isaace song. See ya soon. Peter Madieros says hi. We got his book. It's fabulous!!
