Also, I just wanted to thank you all for commenting. I love reading all your input and seeing other people's thoughts on what we all think about music and other things too. Just like a couple other questions I've asked you in the past, you've made me change my feelings on this topic.

Alika, Quoting from Professor Medeiros' book on page 102 talking about Gabby Pahinui, quote: His first recording of "Hi'ilawe" in 1946 on Bell Records featured slack key guitar. The arrangement used a C Wahine tuning and a very straight swing rhythm. He created a new melody by borrowing part of the melodic line from another Hawaiian song called "Noho Paipai."
