We're pet sitting in Kailua (my sweetie is amazingly clever, isn't she?) and I've been playing Ninipo every time I pick up the taropatch guitar. It seemed like the perfect song for Valentine's Day so I set up the cams and the Zoom H2 next to the pool (amazingly clever, she is) in the backyard and shot this:

When two of my cameras had to go into the shop after our last trip to O`ahu, I was excited to hear about the new Panasonic Lumix TS1 - waterproof, sandproof, and ruggedized!! It fits in the pants pocket and shoots 720p HD video as well as pretty decent 10+ MP stills.

Some good music, as usual, Fran. I really like that song. That is one of the first ones that I did in depth research on, as well. Some mystery behind that one, but wow, the lyrics. |

Really sweet. You have a beautiful touch on the guitar. Did you use an external mike or is that the sound from the camcorder? |

Thanks, glad you liked it. I miked the guitar with a Zoom H2 pocket recorder. It's sitting on a table just below and in front of the neck of the guitar. I did a little clap before each take of the song, then used that clap to line up the two cameras and the audio recording.
The Zoom H2 is pretty susceptible to wind noise, so even after selecting the take that had the least wind I did a severe low cut with a steep high pass filter set at 130 hz, then tweaked the EQ to bring back some fullness. I added a touch of reverb from a free VST called Glaceverb, hosted in the Edius Neo video editing software.

Fran,
Very nice! Thanks for sharing. And don't have too much fun in Kailua. You're going to make us all envious. |
