Anyone going to do a Taro Patch get together this year at the Aloha Festival this coming weekend at the Presidio in SF?

They've actually put a Taropatch Gang kanikapila on the Education Tent schedule: http://www.pica-org.org/AlohaFest/ed_tent_schedule_2010.htm

2:00-2:50pm

Kanikapila with Hiram Bell, the Taropatch Gang, Patrick Landeza and Fran Guidry

Join us in a Hawaiian style kanikapila. Bring your He Mele Aloha book (the blue book) and `ukulele.

Of course, it should read "and slack key guitar" but it will probably take them a few years to get all the details right.

Howzit Allen,

The Aloha Festival sure crept up on us quickly. Has it already been a year?

It looks like there will be a kanikapila in the Education Tent (similar to last year) on Sunday, Aug. 8, 2:00-2:50P: http://www.pica-org.org/AlohaFest/ed_tent_schedule_2010.htm . I believe Taropatcher Hiram Bell got this scheduled (Mahalo Hiram!).

If last year was an indication, the kani may go well past 2:50P since there doesn't appear to be any other workshop events afterwards. We had over 50 folks participating and it was a lot of fun.

I'm planning to get to the festival early on Sunday (around 9:00A) and will hang out by the Education Tent for an informal morning kani or slack key noodling session if anyone's interested. The first act on the main stage starts at 10:30A, and it's Hui Hula o Na Pu'u I Ka Noe, backed up by Taropatcher musicians Sil da Tril, Rodv, and Guke. Here's the entertainment lineup for both days: http://www.pica-org.org/AlohaFest/entertainment_schedule_2010.htm .

Who else wants to come early on Sunday?

Aloha,
Doug

Howzit Mike and Les,

I'll see you on Sunday morning. I've heard from Ray and Cathe so far. Any other Taropatchers willing to get out of bed early? Sil and Genaro, stop by before you go on the main stage.

Like Mike says, get a coffee cause it usually is cold in the morning.

Aloha,
Doug

Great Kani! thanks to Doug, Hiram, Fran, Patrick and everyone else who showed up. We need a bigger tent for all the audience, who had to stand out in the frain (SF-ese for wet fog).
Aloha and Mahalo nui,
Allen
