Aloha TP-er's, I'm back from the land of Aloha!! Me & Puaho had a wonderful time back home, eating, visiting friends & family...eating some more, enjoying all the music we could get, and yes,...more eating. Yum! I was good however, and went to the gym almost everyday, (even ran some) so I wouldn't come back a bloated mess. haha. I brought my signature guitar, and my playing one...and met & played with so many people...it was awesome!!. I met with Jerome & Moon of Makaha Son's, chatted with Glen Smith of Hookena, Bobby Moderow of Maunlalua, Eddie Kamae, Chino Montoya, Mike Kaawa,Napua, Barry Kimokeo, Bernard Kalua, Alika Odom, Ryan Tang, Jerry Santos, Wally Suenaga, Auntie Huanani Aplionana, Shiro Matsuo, Kawika Kahiapo, Del Beazley, my dear Kumo, Chris Silas...AND was finally able to get Bla Pahanui's autograph, (yaaaay!) Bobby Moderow was kind enough to let me play at intermission time at a gig he was playing at the Sheraton Waikiki...and Barry Kimokeo was also gracious enough to let me play with him & his group, Pineapple Jam at the Ranch House...that was so awesome...I was even more amazed that he remembered me after seeing 2 years ago....he saw me and said, "eh Rik, you like come play?" it was so cool. And yes TP-er's I still suck at playing slack key, but had a good time playing anyway....hahaha I got to use his Martin guitar...sweeeeeeeet... In the end I was able to add 9 more signtures to my guitar - the journey continues! ~slkho

Eh Rik - so glad you FINALLY got Bla's signature! And isn't Barry just the nicest young man! You might need to buy an acoustic stand up bass for all the signatures. You do have quite the treasure! Glad you had a great time! |

Eh Jim, Pleasure also to meet you, nice of Bobby to direct us to your table for the meet & greet. Sorry we didn't see you both also at the Aloha Festival, really crowded huh? (seems like we saw every where though ha-ha) Were you able to get any CD's? Patrick really sells them cheap...I think we bought about 12 CD's and some DVD's....I was able to find a reissue of Atta Issac's music...good stuff. ~slkho |

Mika ele, ...Actually I do have Dusty's & Keith's signatures on my guitar. Wished I had gotten Don's while he was still with us. :-(
I'll come back to jam with you when I think I'm good enough, not the other way around. Its no secret, (as I've repeatably said on the TP) that I still suck at Slack Key...until I don't, I will continue to practice/play on my own. Just a preference on my part, as you well know. But I do practice/play every single day. ~slkho |

No worries..no offense taken. I've actually been meaning to stop by just to listen, but something always detours me...hopefully very soon..maybe next week? ~slkho |
