Well, It's been a little more than five years now that I first started playing Slack Key and I love it more than ever. This morning I picked up my guitar (happens everyday) and stared playing some tunes in F Wahine. I am supposed to be to work at 8:00am but it's already 8:30. Everything I played went right to my heart and I could not stop. It was like being on the phone with someone you love...I was hard to say goodbye and end the conversation.

I am glad it delights you so much, Bob. But don't let it get you fired. |

I have the same problem. Only been playing for two years, but very recently upgraded my guitar from an Ibanez concert series to a Taylor 814CE. Been late for work almost every day last week, and even "worked from home" once.
The same songs I have been playing for the last several months sound so much better, different somehow. Yes, I know what you mean. It's like I have been a haole all my life and didn't know until a couple of years ago that I'm really a native of Hawaii. Sort of like coming home.
I sometimes feel a little sorry for all the people who are listening to other music and don't understand how much brighter the day would be with slack key.

Ki ho'alu and a readily available kika are sooooo mysterious at times. Sometimes I grab my kika off of the stand and it's like those so called "alien abductions" where you can't account for missing time. Seems like I just start playing and in an instant 2 hours have elapsed Seriously though, we're so lucky to be able to have ki ho'alu transport us to that "Happy Place" |

That's because time stands still when you play, so why would you need a clock in that room? Julie |
