Terry Brown – “I Can See Clearly Now”. Haha – Terry was playing this because of all the rain they have been getting on O`ahu lately. No complain, Terry. Our rain is white and fluffy over here.

That's Frank B. Shaner -- O`ahu radio personality for decades (currently on 94.7 - KUMU), he's also a talented painter and photographer: http://frankbshaner.com

Funny, funny guy! His CD "Adventures of Leimomi" won the 1998 Na Hoku Hanohano Award for Comedy Album of the Year, too.

Mahalo, Auntie Maria.

Here is some fine slack key music from Duke's kanikapila buddy from Japan, Shuji. Looks like Shuji has found a guy to jam with. Here is Moe `Uhane - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KGin6V_Xjl0

I can't resist commenting...(and I'm surprised you didn't, Wanda!)...

I think this is the first "traditional Hawaiian dance hall" that I've ever seen...something like "Hawaiian Bandstand" perhaps?

Or is this a cutting-edge new-fangled form of hula?

Somewhat confused,
Don

Don,

I don't know why you'd be confused. It's just a Hawaiian Music group called Ho'omana performing at a restaurant called American Burger in Monterey California that is owned by a Hispanic guy named Jose Miguel and his wife (two of the dancers in this video)during an evening of music that they called "Hawaiian Night at American Burger".

And to clarify things even more.

haunts me sleeping and waking."

One more correction. It's Dennis "Bla" Keohokalole. He plays with Ocean a lot. His son, another Dennis, just formed a group with former Ale'a member Chad and former Pilioha member Glenn called Welo Music. Search on Facebook for it. I know Dennis because we are part of the same Tahitian group.

Thank you so much Derek for correcting the name for me. I was hesitant to put his name because I was not sure of what I heard and whether I would get his name correct, but oh my they sounded good. I am so crazy about Chad & Glenn because they have actually been here in Cleveland and ate my soup that I cooked for them. They make good music together -- and nice young men, too. Very humble.

Thanks for the clarification!

But now I really want a burger.

This one, too, from that same open mic -
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gVsci5v905w
is a great take on "Frosty the Snowman" a la Sam & Dave/Blues Brothers

Lee did the "Dock of the Bay" one, Freddie did "Jesus", and I can't recall the name of the "Grace" man - he was a friend/student of Rod Lopez Sr., first-time at SUPA.

This is the first I've seen of these, and if you look at "seattleukulele"s YouTube channel, there's a whole bunch more. "I Want to Be Your Personal Penguin" is another fine one. (Thankfully, however, my performance is NOT among them - because it included the lovely & talented Momi, who does not wish to be viewed on the intra-webs.)

You Seattle guys must have a SUPA time getting together like that!

Here is another video. You may have seen it as it is making its way around Facebook and You Tube. A little girl in Korea who is playing a mean guitar....
