How many strings on each neck? C6 is good for one neck, notes depend on how many strings, on a 6 string (from bottom) (C, A or Bb) E G A C E, on an 8 string, add a C below the E and either a G on top or a low C on the bottom. The other neck is up for grabs. Konabob uses a G6, I use a B11, others use E6 (C#min7), A6, Taropatch G and others. If you can find it, get the Jerry Byrd method book and CD's. A Hawaiian steeler plays fills (between the phrases) and solos using individual strings or two or three note chords for solos. Where are you located? There are good teachers out there - Alan Akaka wil teach via Skype and there's me up in Seattle. You should also look at the Hawaiian Steel Guitar Association (HSGA) and Steel Guitar Form websites. Welcome to the monkey house!

I have a teacher who is in the denver hall if fame as a steeler he plays both hawiian and western swing so the tuning is C6 and E9. 8 strings on each neck and legs I also got a stool with storage As of now I'm playing Steel Guitar Rag as practice (and I thought going from 4 to 6 strings was hard now 16 I also have a Ohau square nest, a Wessenborn, and a Peavey power slide.. Gave up on banjo to heavey mandolin becouse It called for mostly chops (boreing) still play Ukulele and slack key guitar. The only benifit of beibg disabled is I can most always find parking and lots of time to practice music. Play nice and often

Not Chuck Lettes by any chance? He's a good one. I've learned a lot from his tab over the years via Scotty and the HSGA.
