I was just looking at 'stomp box' DIY projects too :) I have a mind to build a foot percussion pedal board, I have a lot ot little wood handhald percussion I'd liek to mount to foot pedals.
here is one idea I foudn that I realy like.

I was specificaly looking to get a sound like an ipu as you say cookie, I tryed some mahogony cigar boxes and bare feet but it doesn't sound right. I also tryed a large wooden wine box-nope. I was thinking mabee using a flat bottom slice of a gourd on a resonator box of some kind might work.
