Aloha kakahiaka kakou! It has been a really bad week, the world over. So many deaths this past week, deaths in friends we hold dear to us, deaths of some people very important to music, art and history of Hawai`i and deaths of so many people in Japan. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the people of Japan.

If you need a break from the news on TV, here is some music to come back to time and again this week. Share in some of the music of Hawai`i.

Hey Wanda
The 2nd video link listed was titled wrong. Emily is singing "E Ku'u Sweet Poina'ole" One of my favorites that Emily does.

And that "Unknown musicians" doing "No Ke Aniani" sound exactly like the Ka'au Crater Boys. The lead singer sounds a lot like Ernie Cruz Jr & the uke player sounds a lot like Troy Fernandez. Add the congas and they're dead ringers for the Ka'au Crater Boys.....Eerie..

Yes, Wanda, that's me. I was demonstrating different camera locations for the Q3HD and came up with this goofy video.

Composite Acoustics. That one looks like the Cargo travel model, but there are some full sized models, the Xi and GXi that look similar.

As you can imagine, composite construction has a lot of advantages in Hawai`i, even moreso for musicians who travel to other locations with wildly different climate. I've seen Brother Noland and his band playing CA guitars, Darin Leong got one which transferred the itch to Andy Wang and me, so we got them. It's like a mild viral disease, sorta <grin>.

The company built carbon fiber guitars down in Lafayette, LA (where every third person is named Guidry) but unfortunately they were undercapitalized and failed to survive some equipment failures. They shut down last summer, but recently it was announced that Peavey had bought the company and would resume production of some of the guitar models this year.

Dukie - I fixed the link. I have no idea where my brain was at when I typed the title, because I surely know the title to this most beautiful mele. Oh did I cry during this one.

Fran- I was not sure that was you because the different angles you looked different.

And that guitar of Henry Kapono's is very interesting looking. Composites would be good in a humid environment. Only thing, they are slippery slidey against your tummy when you are playing, no?
