Means played with a steel or a bottle? How does one tune for that? Any size Uke better than another?

No, that's slide guitar (or Hawaiian steel guitar). Slack key is played on a regular guitar in slacked, open tunings (open G, or "taro patch", being the most popular). You can play slack key on a uke (see Heeday Kimura's book, "How to Play Slack Key Ukulele") but it's most commonly played on a regular steel or nylon string guitar.

You can hear some examples at our SoundClick page. "Ironwood Moon" is an example of Hawaiian steel guitar, the rest are examples of slack key. Or you might want to check out Dancing Cat's Web site, which includes information on the history of slack key.
