The Los Angeles Folks Arts Museum named Mika`ele McClellan an "L. A. Treasure" for teaching and performing slack key. Congrats! Check out this upcoming performance:
From Mika`ele: It'll be a 2 hour concert with vocals in Hawaiian. The music will be traditional Haw'n, original Haw'n, and songs from other cultures I think fit into Hawaiian. We never had the guitar until the haoles came, anyway. (They had guitars in England by the time Capt Cook left, so maybe he left one...?) Acoustic guitar and Hawaiian vocals, even leo ki'eki'e.
