Hi.
I am trying to figure out Ku'u Hoa as performed by Robi and am already aving trouble with the tuning. It doesn't seem to be in standard GCEA tuning. Anybody have a clue?
Mahalo in advance and have a great holiday.

It probably has a low 4th string, down an octave, but you would notice that rather quickly.
The only slacked tuning for `uke that I know of is to drop the first string down a full step to G. That sets up the same string to string intervals as Taropatch.
I hope you get more advice than mine, because I'm curious now. |

It's a fun song and will test your Hawaiian pronunciation skills! It sounds like it's played in A, both the open string chord and the bar chord at the 4th fret. The opening phrase is where you walk the A bar chord down to F# like this, with a hammer on the A string: G. 6 5 4 3 3 3 C. 4 3 2 1 1 1 E. 5 4 3 2 2 2 A. 4 3 2 1 2 1 Then it goes to B7, with a hammer on the A string again: G. 2 2 2 C. 3 3 3 E. 2 2 2 A. 2 4 2 Then it goes to the open string A, then E7 and A again. Hope this helps. Jesse Tinsley |

I like working on those, and fortunately, I seem to be doing OK. Sounding as good as Robi is something else...:)
Jesse, thank you so much for your input. I am on my way. Hope you - ALL of you - are happy and healthy and enjoying the company of those you love this season (and always).
