Hawaiian Language Workshop With Carol Silva

Come learn the Hawaiian language through an understanding of ancient culture and history. An emphasis will be placed on immediate use of the language in speaking, writing, reading and translating. Wonderful lessons about values, customs and behavior unfold in the rich legends of the ancient Hawaiians. Our beliefs, attitudes toward one another, the world around us and spiritual forces are fashioned by stories that entertain and give strength in times of difficulty. As an introduction to Hawaiian language and a refresher for more experienced Hawaiian speakers, this workshop will introduce practical conversational Hawaiian and basic sentence structure and vocabulary, including speaking, oral drills, reading, writing, dictating, composing, interactive group and individual exercises.
Carol will be providing vocabulary sheets and handouts. Please bring a notepad and lunch.
