Aloha everyone,
The slack key all-stars is an awesome lineup. I really wish I could come to California for this one.
Hopefully you all already know taropatch members hwnslacker (Patrick Landeza) and Hwn Boy (Mike Ka`awa)
Milton Lau has been putting on the Hawaiian Slack Key Festivals for over 20 years now.
And without bias, well okay will some bias, Kawika Kahiapo is good friend who I would guess many people on the mainland do not know much about. Kawika's dad was friends with Gabby Pahinui; so as a keiki, Kawika grew up playing with Pops, Palani Vaughn, and other greats. Anyone have Kawika's album, One Heart, One Voice? I think he played every track, guitar, bass, `ukulele, drums, vocals. You want beautiful slack key (played on a nylon) and sweet vocals? Singer, songwriter and all around great guy. I hope you'll like Kawika as much as I do.
Please do not miss these shows! And if you go to the March 9th show, have a drink for me. That's my birthday! Okay, my rant is over.
