I obviously have way too much time on my hands! (Blame it on the divorce.)

Wow. Not sure if I should say congrats or take your computer away.
I'll say congrats since you still have 1000 to go for Ahonui. So hears to 1000 more!
Way to go cpatch! |

Take my computer, please! I don't know about Ahonui; I like Ha`aha`a...aside from its meaning it sounds like a cynical chuckle from someone with the hiccups. |

congrats. You know I don't mean to be nasty - your contributions are almost always either interesting to read and/or very helpful
That said, are you spending as much time on your guitar as you do on the keyboard?

Ahonui is like, big breath. The way I've read it used, it means patience, endurance... like what you'd need to do under tough circumstances: take a deep breath and hang in there...
Maybe that's appropriate for what...2000?!...postings.

I don't recall you ever being nasty, and thanks for the compliment. I do spend more time on the guitar on average than I do here but I need to spend more...lately I have been devoting my spare time to transcribing, which I also find enjoyable but very slow (for me). I've completed Makana's arrangement of Pua Sadinia and am just finishing John Keawe's Mama's Music Box. I have a friend's original song I want to do then I need to focus on practicing...I set a goal to learn (and memorize) at least six new slack key songs this year and compose one, and I'd like to reach that goal. |

Hey, that's great to hear. I guess some divorces have silver linings. Fortunately, my wife thinks its better to have me as a happy husband who plays the guitar every evening than as a disgruntled whatever.
I admire people who could do transcribing. Both Ozzie and Steve tell me it's an excellent practice which goes far to develop skills. I know that the few attempts I made, though ending in "failure," except for that "Twinkle twinkle" melody," really helped my ability to hear what's going on. I just don't have the patience and, besides, I have a congenital difficulty in playing what anybody else plays anyway so as soon as I learn it, I'm looking for ways to change it. Growing up in the 60's, authority, and all that. (Not to mention that the attitude is a good way to cover up lack of skills.)
PS if we exchange comments just 498 times we can both get to the next level, no? |
