My dad played 12 string acoustic throughout my childhood. Then he gave it to my uncle and switched to a Yamaha 6 string. He has always played in "open tuning" (?), with the string ends flyin everywhere. Any way, when I moved to Hawaii, he expressed interest in slack key strings. I bought some, but they were too thick for him to use. Are there any slack key strings I can buy my dad? Sorry I don't know any more right now than that he has a black 6 string yamaha acoustic. Lemme know what info I should get from him about his guitar so I can help you help me pleaase!!! thanks!

Aloha Corrina! While John Pearse does sell a set of "slack key" strings (really just a mix of regular light and medium strings), most players just use regular guitar strings for slack key. |
Craig My goal is to be able to play as well as people think I can. |

Aloha, Chica
I think i made a wrong move on the computer. Sorry! I'm sure your going to have a lot of advice from the rest of the t/p ohanas.
Craig mentioned John Pearse they are great strings. If your looking for something that's playable, sounds good, and also soft on the fingers. Look for "Silk -n- Steel"
If your dad does'nt play all the time, the silk and steel would be comfortable on the fingers. They don't last as long as other strings but it serves the purpose. ( the sound.)
But it's good for those that play once in awhile. Another one is.... GHS...White Bronze! NOT Bright Bronze. The white bronze are great! long lasting. But again not as soft as silk and steel.
Wish you all the luck....Sorry again, for making a "Boo-Boo" on the quote. Me Ke Aloha Kevin
