This is a great website! Although I've been aware of slack key ever since I was a kid, this site got the ball rolling for me on learning to play. Just a little bit about myself, I'm originally from Wisconsin, but I live in the Bay Area (lived in California most of my life). I play a lot, and making some progress. Favorite slack key players/songs: just about everything and everyone under the sun. I tend to listen to slack key more when the weather gets warmer! Alrighty, just sending my alohas.

Well, the first song I played was Keola's "E Ku'u Morning Dew". After figuring out how to slack & learn that song, everything else was kinda like a landslide--had to get the books, the videos, etc. Now I'm all over the place, but I pretty much stick to 3 different tunings: f wahine, c wahine and taro. Lately, I've been trying to work out Keola's on-line material and Patrick Landeza's DVD.

Chris, Hi. those three tunings will keep you busy for years!!. I just made a compilation CD for my own practicing with just taro songs on it. Got 21 cuts i am learning, only 378 to go! Someone like Craig or RJS will probably come on and tell me it is more like 593, but you get the picture. Yeah, this is a great site, hope you get as much out of it as I have. Karl Frozen North |
