I play "Moe 'Uhane" by Sonny Chillingworth, and am working on "Punahele" by Ray Kane. Jeff |

I play it exceptionally well, but not during waking hours. |
Craig My goal is to be able to play as well as people think I can. |

Wow brada Jeff..."Moe 'Uhane" is one of my favorite slack-key pieces by uncle Sonny. I was happy when I figured some of the chords out on my kika. Every time I hear uncle Sonny's version, it feels just like a nice dream. He was one of the greats, huh...A hui hou, Keali'i K. |

My version of Mo Uhane (Dream Slack Key)is under construction. I'm using Mark Hanson's Slack Key book and cd to learn it. I can play La Paloma good enough for friends and family listening. |

Howzit tahitijack, My "Moe Uhane" is only good enough to play for myself not my ohana and friends. I guess I just want to think I am a Kiho'alu Master in my own mind. I don't want nobody to spoil it. Nah, just joking. A hui hou...Keali'i K. |

I learned it by listening to and watching as many people as I could...and then stole pieces of it from all of them.
By the way, it doesn't have to be played at breakneck speed to sound great. Listen to Hal Kinnaman's recording of it on his "Revery" CD, also one of our members, Bill Campbell, has it on his CD, "Kauai on My Mind". I think he was somewhat influenced by Hal. |

Oooh, I'd love to learn Hula Blues ~ and some day I will! Improving all the time ~ practice practice practice...
Moe Uhane (from Mark Hanson's book) was the first slack key song I learned! I love that one! |
