If you haven't heard the group 3D you have been missing a lot. David (Kawika) Kahiapo, Dell Beazley and Dwight Kana'e (3D's)are great. I had the opportunity to hear them live in Las Vegas a couple weeks ago.
On the CD they play traditional Slack Key and original songs as well as other songs such as Jime Croce's Time in a Bottle and Jame Taylor's Fire and Rain.

I highly recommend "In Living Color" for slack key lovers everywhere.
It was put out by PONO Records in 1998

This one got released over 5 years ago, without the fanfare it deserved (danged O`ahu radio stations!). I just played it on my show again today (love Kawika's "Kanaiaupuni"):

...and every time I play it, the calls come in -- "Who is that??", "What's the name of that CD??" Each of these guys is a solo talent; as a trio, they're really wonderful.

I gotta agree. I was with Don in LV to see these guys live and they stole the show in my mind. Three personalities, three styles, great combination. Kawika is great and if you listen to his other stuff, you can hear the Palani Vaughn influence in the arrangements. Del Beazley is a great "front man" for the group because of his energy in a live show, and I was very impressed with Dwight's solo work. I know he plays with Peter Moon, but I'd never heard him solo. A very entertaining mix of Hawaiian styles. I've liked Kawika's work for a while, but I was really surprised and pleased with 3D's live set. Check out these guys; they deserve to be played.
