Aloha all, I wanted to warn potential customers of this website: http://www.portparadise.com/catalg2a.html They have a mail order catalog of Hawaiian music. I placed an order through the mail on 2/27/04 for a cassette of the Kahumoku Brothers "More Than Words Can Say" which they list on their website for $8.95 plus shipping and handling, total $12.75. I sent them a postal money order in that amount. Their website says allow 6 weeks for delivery. I sent a couple of emails first, but got no response. I made a bad decision and sent the order anyway. After about 8-10 weeks, I emailed them again, and in total about 3 times since I sent the order, but still no reply. I feel bad for telling a couple of fellow Taropatch members about the find of the Kahumoku Brothers cassette. I don't know if they ordered or not. Has anyone had any dealings with these people? I don't know what else is left to do, but warn people about a bad place to send their money for Hawaiian music. I don't like to put up anything negative on our wonderful Taropatch forum, but I feel compelled to warn members of a potential scam. Mahalo for listening.

Their Web site's home page hasn't been updated in four years so I'd say it's a good bet that they're no longer in business but haven't taken their Web site down. Sorry that you had this experience...in the future I would definitely shy away from companies that don't respond to emails.
In the meantime, perhaps some kind soul here might be willing to send you a copy of the album, given that you HAVE already paid for it. |

Aloha Craig, Thanks for the empathy. And yes, that's a good rule to follow-no reply, no business. I didn't know that websites could exist that long if they aren't in business. I guess if they can collect enough revenue from it, they can keep it going? Take care, |

Actually, often they're just forgotten and abandoned by their owners...it depends on how they're hosted. |
