Just a brief note, especially for folks coming from out of town...
If you have nothing to do the Friday eve before the Institute, I play from about 6 pm to about 8 pm at a family owned Salvadorean restaurant in Mt. View -- about 10 - 15 minutes south of Redwood City. Lots of Latin stuff from a slack key perspective (I'm working on a CD to be called "South of the Border, Hanalei Bay") and some straight out slack key--
They have wonderful pupusas (freshly made tortillas stuffed with cheese, beans and/or pork, served with homemade pickled cabbage) and I love their posole (a soup chocked filled with pork, cabbage, chile and hominy, served with fresh onion, dried oregano and lemon.) Other stuff good too. And downright cheap!
"El Calderon" is at Calderon and Church (about 1/4 mile South of Castro and a few blocks east of El Camino)Their webpage is: http://edesignsbysuze.com/elcalderon/
