I'll be doing my annual trip to San Diego County next September, and hope to see some of the Taro Patch ‘ohana.
On Saturday, September 25th, I have two workshops planned at Giacoletti Music, 505 Carlsbad Village Drive, Carlsbad, CA 92008 760-729-1335 Fax 760-729-2183
10:30-12:30 slack key guitar, w/ emphasis on kani kapila. This one's for anyone wanting to learn how to play in a group, how to improvise, how to put together a convincing little solo when someone says, "Take one!" If you've been following the "Tab vs ear" debates, this workshop's for you. And yes, there will be TAB.
1:00 - 2:30 Finger-style solos for ‘ukulele. We'll look at some classical Polynesian songs and learn to play melody and chords. Not too challenging, but you should know how to play basic chords and be able to strum in time. We'll use TAB and notation.
workshops are $30 each.
Also, I'll be in the area for the week of September 20-24 and will be available for private lessons or other fun and games. Write me if you are interested.
cheers,
