Hey gang, I've been reading everyone's questions, comments, and opinions for over a year now. I really like to thank everyone who has been a part of this forum...It really helps the growth of the 'ukulele. I also would like to thank Andy for making all of this possible. Just remember...play music from your heart, and have fun!

Aloha All,
Herb is right. The status that comes with the Brand name on the instrument will not stand the test of time if the instrument is not right for your ear and/or your style of playing. Next time you are in your car, look at all of the different makes and models of cars that surround you on the road. There is obviously not one car that is right for every driver. It is a matter of personal taste and needs. By the way, Herb, thanks again to both you and David for the great workshop in Redwood City. You are truly inspirational!

Hi Herb
Happy to see you on Taro Patch. You and David may have to put up with Terry, Mary and I in January at the Bay Area Hawaiian Music Institute's to be held at Whittier College. We are getting the Ukelele bug.

Hi Herb,
Thanks for dropping in. One of the fun things here is the diversity of our members so it's an honor to have you, a touring musician and teacher, to share your thoughts and experiences.
And you've been reading for over a year?!?! I always wonder how many people and who may be lurking out there. Cool. |

A lot of good advice out there. However, I live in the Great Lakes region where it's hard to find ukes to begin with. One day I did make the pilgrimage to the Midwest's major acoustice music store with plans to buying a KoAloha. I played two concert models. Both had horrible finishes - in fact some parts of the instruments were entirely bare wood. I did not purchase either for those reasons. Later I got a Kamaka concert and I love it. But like Herb, Jr., says there are a lot of fine instruments out there. Find one that fits your budget at enjoy! |
