Hey big'ol'dog!
What pickup system did you have in that Taylor, was it their new "expression" system or something else? (since it sounded so good)

No. It's about four years old so it's whatever they had at the time. I spent a lot of time in the studio flattening the response to my liking and I don't touch it anymore except for volume.

Well , it is probably a fishman then. I could never get mine to sound right to me, even with a Baggs para-acoustic DI box in line.
What EQ box were you using for the live show?

Yeah, it's a Fishman. The settings allow me to plug into house PA most of the time w/o an EQ. If I'm using my Kramer with just the B-Band I'll go through a SansAmp and I also have a small unit made by Yamaha called an NE-1 Parametric Equalizer that's designed for Bass Guitar, but it's quick and simple for an acoustic.
I also wanted to mention that right after I bought the Taylor I had some custom work done on it. I had a corian saddle and nut made and refreted the entire instrument with higher/sharper frets. It doesn't play or sound like a stock Taylor.
Hope this helps.

But Dave,
quote: Yeah, it's a Fishman. The settings allow me to plug into house PA most of the time w/o an EQ.
What do you mean by "the settings"? If it is a undersaddle fishman piezo there are no electronic "settings", it just plugs in. By "settings" do you then mean just your Guitar set-up i.e. the saddle and action & frets?

Dusty,
Yeah it's te same one. You're right. For a 3 series it's a boomer.
Lawerence,
No, it has the EQ and vol controls on the side. Now that I have it set where I like, I don't mess with it except vol.

Aha!
Now I understand, you got the model with the active electronics installed, probably the fishman blender system, whilst mine came with just a passive undersaddle. I've since repaced it with the Baggs I-Beam and it now sounds much better plugged in (it always sounded good acoustically). But this is still is a "passive" system. I may have to go active like most Pros, but I don't really want to cut into my now fairly rare Dan Crary signature model.
Sorry to steal the thread for a little while !
