If you're headed to the Big Island, you should definitely check in with Konabob and see if you can hook up for a little kanikapila. We had a super short visit to the land of lava and vog, but they found time to join us at a great Darlene Ahuna show, then made an early morning hookup at the Hulihe`e palace in Kailua-Kona. He gave Lynn a 30 second lesson on the Walking Stick bass, Shirley fired up her fiddle, Bob had his way pretty Superior Weissenborn, and I had the Larrivee Parlor in taropatch. We managed to squeeze the most tunes into the fewest minutes before we had to dash for our flight.

Thanks, Bob, thanks, Shirley, you're in our hearts,
Fran

Fran, we enjoyed you an Lynn immensely! As you could probably tell, the ladies at the palace are really fond of traditional Hawaiian music. I love to go there and play when I have time. They are always very gracious to me. Wish you could have been in Waimea tonight. Brother Smitty packed the house. How did the kani at Honey's work out for you?

Bob, Honey's was unbelievable. Mike, Ocean, and Analu are terrific, and the talent from the audience was beyond anything I've ever seen. No open mic or audience participation I've ever seen had anything close to this caliber of talent. I can give you some idea by saying that it was actually worth rushing home from the big island and missing Darlene tonight.

Thanks again,
Fran

I just want to invite those of you who are planning a trip to the Big Island of Hawaii to check in with me right before your trip. I often find out about musical events here on the Big Island... right before they happen. I may be able to let you know of something during your trip.

By the way:
You can catch Hana Aloha with Lenard Kaniho, my wife Shirely, and myself at the Kona Brew Pub - usually on the
second Sunday of the month. We have also started playing at Alii Gardens Marketplace on the last Saturday of
the month. Check our web site at: http://www.konaweb.com/hana_aloha/

Aloha,
-Konabob
