Seal oil, Piff......you take that frozen northern pike off theback porch, (you lnow, the one you cought through four feet of ice back in January), get out your sharpest knife and slice a thin piece off the pike. Uncork the jar of seal oil in the cupboard and dip the fozen pike in, then chow down. Total energy food. Only drawback, you smell like a seal, and DANG, here come them polar bears again! |

Wow! Has it been that long? I guess so. Truth is, my mother took ill and for obvious reasons I have had to reprioritize my time. Mahalo to all of you who have been praying for her. She is doing extremely well now but we still have another year of treatments to go. To help her maintain her spirits I have been hanging around the house keeping her company and playing music for her. I can't think of a better way to get practice and "help a Mother out". This summer found me at my first kanikapila. It was at Pua Kai's house and is where I first met Slkho, Dusty and their wonderful spouses. I came home inspired to get better and so I've been plucking around the house. My mom heard about the open mic at Espresso Gardens, that I've been wanting to go to but haven't had the chance to, and she basically booted me out of the house to go. Perhaps she was hinting to go and get more practice. So I went and got up to play for the first time on stage. It was a nerve-racking experience but I'm happy I got that initial step out of the way. So now that Mom is doing much better I'll have time to get back to playing and posting more. It feels good to be back! Thanks Raymond and the rest of the Taropatch/Espresso Gang that was there for the wonderfully supportive environment, comments and the suggestions. |

howzit slkho - Mom's doing well except that she's getting spoiled with all the free rides and free meals. I suppose turnaround is fair play, huh? Good thing she taught me to cook otherwise she would be getting tired of ramen. Eh, by da way, was wonderin, how's Zoom doing? :P
Margaret and I are hoping to get down to SoCal sometime before the end of the year. I'll keep you folks posted. |

Hey Lawrence! Was great to see you again. Loved your set. I can't figure how my guitar caught a buzz...really! Maybe the treble was too high? Anyway, thanks for the sound! |

Thanks for the compliment regarding our set. Usually Pulelehua also plays uke but did not last wednesday.
You had some sort of grounding problem with your pickup (since the cord was OK). I did not have time to try the ground-lift vs not-ground-lift on the D.I. box, but you sounded fine in true acoustic mode!

I had a new pick up installed last month. I'll take it back to him before the next open mic. Once in a while I heard a pop or a thump while I was playing the base line during Radio Hula. Did you hear it from where you sat? If so, do you know what caused it? |

Hey Kiwini!! Jesse's deadline is OCTOBER 1st!! Do you have ANYthing to use to record a song? He can take almost anything.... Maybe you should make friends with all those nice guys in your area - especially 'Ilio Nui - he's a computer/recording junkie and puts out terrific stuff... even though he professes to be a DentisT! I had planned to use my iPod w/ iTalk, but even with Lots of Practice, I don't have anything for the CD... Oh well, maybe next year. But you play so nicely, it'd be nice of you to share. Aloha nui!! auntie cousin.. PS: I'm hoping to drive up to Idaho someday, but not before Oct 1... By the way, snail mail works... and he'll take a tape or cassette or anything else.....
